Police name motorcyclist killed in coast road crash

Paul George Taylor was from Port Erin

Police have formally named the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash on the Kirk Michael to Peel Coast Road last week.

59-year-old Paul George Taylor from Port Erin was fatally injured in a two-vehicle collision which occurred on the highway on Thursday, 20 April.

Mr Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene whilst the driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

Inspector Neil Craig of the constabulary's Roads Policing Unit says Mr Taylor had been riding his motorcycle in the direction from Kirk Michael towards Peel when Mr Taylor collided with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction at around 1pm that day.

The incident saw a section of the road between the Switchback and Reayrt Aalin closed for around seven-and-a-half hours whilst a police investigation was carried out.

Meanwhile, police want to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time that authorities haven't yet spoken to - anyone with information is asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 631 212.
