Police training to gain professional body status

Constabulary faces rise in costs as a result

The Isle of Man Constabulary is facing a 12.5 per cent rise in costs to access intellectual material from the College of Policing.

Chief Constable Gary Roberts says the increase will hit smaller police forces who are dealing with already-stretched budgets.

The change is coming about due to the training of officers gaining  professional body status.

Mr Roberts says the Island will have to fall in step with the UK to avoid discrepancies if the policing process is challenged.

But he says the appropriate bodies are aware of the situation:
