Poverty, population and pupils to feature in the Keys

Eighteen questions for Tynwald's lower branch

Poverty, population statistics and impudent pupils are among the issues being raised in the House of Keys this morning.

Eighteen questions are facing ministers - and one minister will attempt to hurry through some new legislation.

By far the most vocal member of the house this morning will be Onchan MHK Julie Edge, who has 11 questions tabled.

They concern businesses paying retail tax, financial officers complying with regulations, and how many Island schoolchildren have been suspended in the past five years.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew member Jason Moorhouse has questions on Brexit and inflation, and Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper will ask about maternity leave and data protection.

All that coincides with the first reading of the new Data Protection Bill, along with a motion from the policy and reform minister to simultaneously give it its second reading.

You can hear coverage of questions on AM1368, online at manxradio.com and via the Manx Radio app.
