Prison visits begin

Tomorrow (Saturday) is the first of four days when the Manx public can visit the new prison at Jurby.

The £41 million facility was officially opened by Home Affairs Minister Martyn Quayle earlier this week, and all 2,400 visiting places for this weekend and next have been taken up.

There will be be two sessions on each visiting day, from 9am to midday and from 1pm to 4pm.

Visitors will be taken around the prison in groups of 25, leaving every 15 minutes, and will follow a designated route which is expected to take up to 40 minutes to complete.
