Prisoner takes drugs in his cell

Cannabis hidden inside Kinder egg

A man's appeared in court after taking drugs into Isle of Man prison.

Thirty-two-year old Carl Joseph Bridson appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes this week.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of introducing articles to prison and one count of possession of cannabis bush.

After being sentenced by magistrates on January 5, Bridson was taken to prison at around 5.45pm.

The next day prison officers were alerted after smelling cannabis emanating from Bridson's cell.

Upon a search, officers discovered four hand-rolled cigarettes, tobacco, rolling papers and a lighter.

A plastic inside shell from a Kinder Egg containing cannabis bush was also found.

Bridson has been remanded in custody and the case has been adjourned until 14 February.
