Probation for man caught with knife at Sea Terminal

The court heard that he uses the bladed article for day-to-day 'farm work'.

A Ronague man caught with a knife at the Sea Terminal has been sentenced to probation during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.

Edward Michael Lewin, of Ballacricket Lane, was stopped by security when attempting to board the ferry on 19 January.

Lewin's advocate told the court he was travelling to the UK to pick up a dog, describing him as a 'naturalist' who currently owns 15 dogs.

The court heard that he uses the bladed article, which 'resembled a credit card', for day-to-day 'farm work'.

Imposing a 12-month probation order, Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood said she accepted that he 'forgot' he had it with him.
