Protest in Douglas for 'Global Day of Action for Gaza'

Manx group wants government to lend voice to calls for ceasefire

A protest will take place in Douglas today (Saturday) urging government to lend its voice to calls for a ceasefire in the Gaza - Israel war.

Manx pressure group Caarjyn Phalestine says the Isle of Man 'cannot remain silent'.

It adds: 'As Israel faces the charge of genocide, at the International Court of Justice, protests are planned in more than 66 cities in at least 36 countries across six continents'.

At a recent charity event, in Ramsey, the group raised almost £2,500 for Medical Aid for Palestinians which assists children and families injured and displaced by the war.

Today's rally is due to be held at 2.30pm (13 January) in the cultural zone on Douglas Promenade.
