Public 'prepared' to pay for healthcare

Chief minister weighs in on DHSC review

The chief minister believes the Manx public would support paying for certain healthcare provisions.

A fundamental review of how the Island's health services are funded was commissioned by Tynwald last week.

Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan says all options are on the table, including contracting out or charging for certain functions.

As a former health minister himself, Howard Quayle says he's acutely aware of the funding issues gripping the system.

But he says the general public understand the situation too:
