Relay breaks £100k mark

Amazing effort for 'amazing cause'

More than 800 local people managed to raise £100,000 at last weekend's Relay for Life.

The Cancer Research UK event, which took place around Britain over the space of 24 hours, sees competitors walk in memory of those who've been affected by the disease.

In the seven years it's been run in the Island, more than £600,000 has been generated for the charity.

For the first time, headline sponsorship came from PokerStars.

Head of Corporate Giving Sue Hammett called it an 'amazing cause', offering congratulations to all involved.

With donations still being tallied, a full sum total is expected in October.
