The local authority pulled out of paying for residents to use the Northern Civic Amenity Site

Residents in Bride are being asked to take their refuse waste to Birchall's in Andreas for free, but will need proof of address.

In a statement the local authority says paying £65,000 is 'extremely excessive' to keep the site open.
The commissioners say there will be 'teething problems' with the new system adding it has been 'fighting' for a better arrangement for years.

The local authority stopped paying its contribution towards the Northern Civic Amenity site, and says it formally withdrew from the committee on 31 March.
It says the issue has been 'ongoing' and has been brought to the NCAS joint committee by previous and current commissioners.

The statement adds: "We will be holding a meeting with the Chief Minister soon, who is aware of our concerns and reasons behind the decision being made.

"To the many, many people who have contacted us, thank you, your support (bar one!! There's always one!) has been heartfelt and as residents of arguably the best place to live on the Island, we know that you all have far too much pride in Bride to allow any fly tipping. If you do happen to notice any sneaky critters doing so, please contact us as soon as possible."
