48-year-old told them: "I'm going to take your gun and shoot you in the head"
A Douglas man who was tasered after threatening violence towards armed police will be sentenced next month.
Ian Ronald Goldsmith, of Derby Square, held a metal bar over his head as he shouted and swore at the four officers who’d attended his home after reports of a domestic incident.
They arrived just after 10pm on 20 August to find the 48-year-old ‘frothing at the mouth’ he told them: “I’m going to take your gun and shoot you in the head.”
Police deployed a taser which was ineffective and he continued to refuse to cooperate – when Goldsmith was removed to a police van officers were forced to use PAVA spray to incapacitate him.
At Police Headquarters cannabis was found concealed in his buttocks.
At Douglas Courthouse Goldsmith pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour and possession of the Class B drug.
A charge of affray was withdrawn.
A social enquiry report has been requested before Goldsmith is sentenced on 19 October; he’s been bailed until that date.
