Northern Irishman claims 14th TT win
A fallen tree delayed the start of today's Supersport TT Race 1 (5 June) and there was an unexplained three minutes extra delay - but when it did get underway, it was James Hillier with the early advantage ahead of the Dunlops, William and Michael.
Guy Martin, nursing a wrist injured in his high-speed spill yesterday, was a non-starter.
Michael Dunlop took it up from Ramsey from Hillier before it swayed back to Hillier as they approached the Grandstand. Dean Harrison was reported retired at Ballacraine.
Into the half-way pits and Dunlop kept a slim advantage but it was nip-and-tuck through lap three between Dunlop and Hillier until Dunlop started pulling away, taking a nine second advantage into the final lap.
His eventual winning advantage - 13.2 seconds.
He completed his final lap at 126.54 miles per hour, some way off his lap record of 128.66.
So a 14th TT win for Michael Dunlop from a battling James Hillier in second place and third, another podium for Peter Hickman.
So Dunlop equals Mike Hailwood's number of TT wins.
His triumph is described by Radio TT commentators Roy Moore and Tim Glover, and the rider himself:
