33-year-old assaulted healthcare staff at RDCH
A Douglas woman who bit two paramedics who were trying to help her has been handed a suspended prison sentence.
Kimberley Cherianne Collister, of Bucks Road, lashed out at the two healthcare professionals at Ramsey District Cottage Hospital on 27 September last year.
The 33-year-old bit one on the forearm and one on the wrist – she later admitted two offences of common assault.
During sentencing at Douglas Courthouse Collister’s advocate said she had a ‘limited recollection’ of the incident adding: “It’s very clear Miss Collister was in a high state of distress at the time.”
Describing her behaviour as ‘reckless’, and Miss Collister as a ‘vulnerable woman’, she added: “She does accept that assaulting anyone in unacceptable.”
Imposing a 20-week custodial sentence, suspended for two years, High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told Collister: "They were there to help you – you repaid their help by biting them."
Collister was also handed a two-year Suspended Sentence Supervision Order and instructed to pay £50 in prosecution costs.
