Nurses expected to walk out tomorrow

Manx Care’s executive director of nursing has called on the Royal College of Nursing to agree to independent arbitration to resolve a pay dispute.

Paul Moore has made the plea ahead of the first of three days of strike action – nurses will walk out tomorrow (Thursday) and again in October.

The health body says it’s open to discussions with the union but is unable to offer further pay awards as it’s exhausted its funding budget.

Treasury Minister Alex Allinson says the situation isn’t straightforward:

A number of services will be disrupted between 8am and 8pm on 14 September – you can find out more HERE.

Further strikes are planned by RCN members for 18 and 19 October.
