Residents give verdict on Port Erin changes

Residents in Port Erin are getting used to the village's new look.

A major refurbishment scheme has seen modern paving installed through the Station Road main shopping area, with new street furniture and lighting to follow.

Diversions have been in place for several months, and while local businesses remained open, traders say the works deterred visiting shoppers.

The main bus stop has been relocated from Bridson Street to Station Road - where an extended lay-by allows for several buses to pull in at the same time. 

The change caused traffic headaches in the main thoroughfare yesterday (12 June).

These locals weren't convinced the change of venue for the stop was needed - but approved of the work itself:
