Politicians should think holistically - Nutter
Douglas will be 'unrecognisable' if government proposals to shorten the horse tramway go through.
That's according to Julian Nutter, secretary of the Manx Electric Railway Society.
He's concerned there hasn't been a 'proper debate' on the future of horse trams, with a recent planning application for a new depot and stables at the Summerland site not being discussed in Tynwald.
Plans by for the redevelopment of Douglas promenade were narrowly defeated in the court - a combined vote will be held in January after the two chambers were divided on the issue.
Mr Nutter says the proposals will drastically change the landscape of the capital:
Main road between Peel and Douglas to shut for tree felling
'Targeted and intelligence led approach' to protect Island's borders during Irish sailings
Airport Director role advertised with top salary of £120,000
Traders on Michael Street feel 'abandoned' by politicians in tough times
