Popular rider dies in crash at Macau GP

Tributes are being paid to former TT Privateer Champion Dan Hegarty who's died following an incident at the Macau Grand Prix this morning (Sat)

The 31-year-old from Nottingham came off his Top Gun Racing Honda at Fisherman’s Bend.

The race was immediately red-flagged.

Sports Editor Tim Glover says riders, team owners and journalists have been remembering the popular and talented rider

Hegarty made his TT debut in 2010 and his best results are 11th in the 2016 and 2017 Superstock races and the 2016 Senior.

He won the Privateer title in 2016 and was a regular competitor at the Southern 100 at Billown, where he broke the 110mph barrier at this year's meeting.
