UK gov't to release business jet findings

Manx government maintains innocence on VAT allegations

Findings from a UK government inquiry into the importation of business jets and yachts in the Island will be published in spring.

HM Treasury confirmed the position in response to a query from MP Dame Margaret Hodge this week.

The Westminster probe was launched in November after allegations Manx authorities had willfully allowed wealthy individuals - including F1 driver Lewis Hamilton - to exploit tax loopholes on Island-registered planes.

The Manx government maintains it has yet to see any concrete evidence of wrongdoing.

A Freedom of Information request last year showed almost £800 million has been refunded in VAT on aircraft imports since 2011.
