UNESCO tourism and business boost hope

IOM receives Biosphere Reserve certificate

It's hoped recognition of the Isle of Man as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve will help sectors such as tourism, local produce and business grow.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle made the comments following an official presentation of a certificate recognising the status at the Manx Museum yesterday evening.

He received the certificate from Mr Han Qunli, the secretary of UNESCO's Man and Biosphere programme, who made the trip to the Island for the presentation.

Mr Quayle says it's an honour which should have tangible benefits.
