Attempts were made to kick doors off cubicles and block drains

A toilet block in Castletown was closed over the weekend due to 'continued' vandalism.

The most recent damage includes attempts to kick doors off the women's cubicles, whilst there have also been 'frequent' attempts to block drains and start fires at the town hall and tennis court facilities.

Castletown Commissioners says it 'hopes' to have out-of-hours and 'vandal proof' toilets available soon.

It says staff at the local authority have 'limited' resources for checking anti-social behaviour and 'publicly spirited' members of the public have been intervening to help.

The commissioner's have a vacancy for a general labouring job which assists with cover at weekends or evenings during the summer, anyone interested is asked to contact the clerk.
