Rainfall higher than average in August

Data from the Met Office shows it was a colder, windier and wetter-than-usual August in the Isle of Man.

Temperatures for the month averaged a chilly 14.7° Celsius, peaking at just 19.1° a fortnight ago.

Rainfall totalled 84.4mm - nearly a third above average - but we managed a reasonable 188 hours of sunshine.

A night of intense rain and localised flooding on 14 August was also officially named as the wettest since severe weather struck the Island on 3 December, 2015.
