World Cup drink-drive campaign was 'effective'

Nine drivers stopped by police during this summer's World Cup anti drink-drive campaign are to face court proceedings.

Over one month from June 11, police stopped 363 drivers.

Six of the nine charged are accused of driving while over the legal limt, two with failing to provide a sample, the other one with being drunk in charge of a vehicle.

Inspector Mark Britton of the Roads Policing Unit insists although the 'hit rate' was low, the campaign has still been effective:
