Change comes into effect tomorrow
Starting tomorrow (1 August), Manx customers could incur a surcharge if UK senders use Royal Mail stamps without a barcode on
Today is the last day for UK residents to use regular stamps - ones that show the late Queen's head on a plain background.
The Isle of Man Post Office says: 'The story relates to Royal Mail stamps which are unrelated to Isle of Man Post Office’s postage so there will be no effect for Isle of Man customers using Isle of Man stamps for mail destined on or off the Island.'
'In addition, this only relates to the non-barcoded stamps that feature the late Queen’s profile on a plain background, all other stamps with a picture on including Christmas stamps remain valid.
'Island customers could incur the £1.10 surcharge from UK senders who have used the non-barcoded stamps to post mail to them from today, however Isle of Man Post Office expects these incidents to be very low, particularly as Royal Mail have an exchange scheme for any customers who still have this type of stamp.
'Isle of Man stamps currently don’t have the barcode technology built into them but may well do in the future.'
