Athletics: Another England call-up for Sarah Astin

Island athlete and sister Gemma also take national title in Mansfield

Manx athlete Sarah Astin has earned another call-up to represent England's cross country squad.

The Belgrave Harriers competitor is one of four included in the Senior Women category to take part in the Cross Internacional de Italica in Seville, Spain on Sunday (12 November).

The 'Cross Italica' cross-country event is held around a Roman excavation with England looking to use the race to get athletes prepared for the UK Cross Challenge and European trial in Liverpool on 25 November.

Furthermore, it'll provide Astin with the chance to earn a place in the Great Britain team for the European Cross Country Championships in Brussels, Belgium on 10 December.

This news comes after Sarah and her sister, Gemma Astin, were part of the Belgrave Harriers senior women's squad which won the title at the English National Cross-Country Relays in Mansfield last Sunday (5 November).

It was Gemma's debut for the club and her first cross-country contest for more than ten years, whilst it was Sarah's second English National Cross-Country title after she was crowned individual champion in February.
