Athletics: Medal success for Manx athletes in Cardiff

Eight Island competitors took part in junior international

Several Isle of Man athletes have brought medals back to Manx shores after some stellar performances during competition in Wales.

Eight Manx competitors were part of the 25-strong 'Island Select' team - which also included athletes from Guernsey and Jersey - at the 2023 Welsh Athletics U20 Junior International in Cardiff on Saturday, 26 August.

In the Women's 5,000m race walk, Mia Dunwell took bronze whilst the Women's 4x100m relay team of Carla Teece, Aimee Christian, Tegan Thompson and their teammate, Emily Pike of Guernsey also took bronze.

Elsewhere, Teece also set a new personal best in the Women's 100m of 12.67 seconds whilst Ben Sinclair also took a new personal best in the Men's 400m with a time of 49.48 seconds.

Also among the Isle of Man competitors involved at the event were Lucy Ormsby, Seb Sgouraditis and Cai Lewis.

The Island Select team faced competition against teams such as England U18s, England U20s, Northern Ireland U20s, Scotland U20s, Wales U20s and Welsh Schools.
