Brucie Bonus at the Classic TT

New Zealander reproduces practice form

Right from the off, there was little doubt the man who had dominated practice would blitz this afternoon's Classic Lightweight.

At the end of lap one, Bruce Anstey on the Padgett's Honda was over 20 seconds up on Dan Sayle.

A record speed at over 119.888 mph, the fastest ever TT lap by a 250cc machine, before the second circuit produced a lap at over 120 miles an hour, despite slowing for the pits.

Ducati mounted Michael Rutter, bruised from his morning spill, moved bravely into second place (after Sayle retired) with Ian Lougher third.

By the flag, Anstey's advantage was over a minute and 28 seconds. A race record by a minute and 14 seconds.

Rutter and Lougher were scrapping for second with Rutter edging it by just over two seconds, although he was later excluded with Lougher promoted to second spot and Ivan Lintin into third.
