Corinthians have one hand on premier league trophy

One more point needed to make it official

Corinthians need one more point to be officially crowned Canada Life Premier League Champions.

They won 6-1 at Ramsey last night with Sean Doyle settling any nerves with goals in the 2nd and 20th minutes.

Other scorers were Dan Simpson, Tom Callister, Connor Gorman and Stephen Whitley.

It will be their first ever top flight title.

They have a vastly superior goal difference over second placed Rushen who were awarded their game against St. John's without a ball being kicked.

Rushen can only equal the current points total Corinthians already have if they win their 4 remaining games and the champions elect lose their remaining 3.

Elsewhere, relegation looms for Douglas Athletic who are now 4 points adrift of Douglas Royal who gained an invaluable point by drawing 2-2 at home to St Georges.

Athletic have only two matches left to play.

Old Boys took a big step to safety with a 3-1 victory over Ayre at Blackberry Lane.

St Mary's beat Peel 3-0 at Douglas Road and Laxey won 3-2 at Marown.

Already promoted Union Mills are on the verge of sealing the Division Two silverware after being awarded their game away to Michael.

Ramsey Youth Centre kept the title chase alive with a hard-fought 3-2 win against Foxdale at Billygoat Park.

Onchan are still in the promotion picture after a 5-2 victory at Colby.
