Max Walker takes podium in men's U23 event

Manx cyclist Lizzie Holden has taken victory during the opening day of this year's British National Road Championships.

The UAE Team ADQ rider topped the standings in the women's time trial event in a time of 37 minutes and two seconds, 14 seconds clear of her nearest competitor, Anna Morris.

Meanwhile, fellow Island competitor Max Walker secured a podium finish in the Men's U23 time trial.

The Trinity Racing rider claimed second place, only 21 seconds behind Saint Piran's Josh Charlton who took top spot.

Meanwhile, Max's brother, Zac Walker, placed 24th overall for the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, three minutes behind the winning time.

Holden and the Walker brothers are three of several Isle of Man competitors taking part in the championships in Redcar and Cleveland which run until Sunday (25 June).
