Cycling: Mixed fortunes for Bostock & Walker on Tour of Britain

Manx riders take some positives from prestigious event

A mixed set of fortunes was also combined with some standout performances for the two Manx competitors who took part in this year's Tour of Britain.

Matthew Bostock of Bolton Equities Black Spoke and Max Walker of Trinity Racing contested the eight-day event, which started in Altrincham on the 3 September and concluded in the Welsh Town of Caerphilly eight stages later on 10 September.

There were mixed fortunes for Bostock who started well as he sealed 20th in the first stage and crossed the line in a high 12th in the fifth stage - elsewhere he recorded an 87th-place finish in stage six, with the cyclist totalling in 61st as the tour concluded.

Walker's best result came in the third stage as he placed 42nd in the Goole to Beverley round, and a 50th overall position in the general classification.

The Manxman's efforts meant he personally finished eleventh in the youth classification and he also helped his Trinity Racing squad secure a sixth-place finish in the team standings.
