Darts: IoM finish second in Islands International

Island hosts only bested by Ireland in three-day event

A strong outing for the Isle of Man darts team has seen them finish second during an international event held on Island at the weekend.

The Isle of Man played host to Republic of Ireland, Guernsey and Jersey as all four nations faced off in the 2024 Islands International last Friday to last Sunday (26-28 January).

Securing second spot in the men's, women's and overall categories in the three-day tournament, the Manx side finished only behind Republic of Ireland who took top spot in all three classes.

Jersey finished third whilst Guernsey took fourth.

Ireland secured top honours in the individuals competition on day one with Stephen Rosney taking the men's crown and Caroline Breen beating the Isle of Man's Margaret Kelly to take victory in the women's final.

Both the Isle of Man and Ireland were dominant in the team event the following day - the Manx women took 5-2 and 4-3 victories over Guernsey and Jersey respectively.

The men meanwhile followed up a 9-4 win over Guernsey on the Saturday with a commanding 10-3 victory over Jersey on the final day on Sunday.

This saw the Isle of Man sides face Republic of Ireland for the title - despite a spirited display across the matches the Irish side proved too strong as they took a 10-3 win over the hosts to claim top spots across the board.

The Isle of Man Darts Organisation is thanking all the volunteers who helped to run the competition across the weekend.
