Ravens end pre-season campaign with win over premier league champions

FC Isle of Man have ended their 2023/24 pre-season campaign with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Canada Life Men's Premier League champions, Peel last night (25 July).

The Ravens were two up inside the opening six minutes at Castletown Stadium courtesy of Dean Pinnington's calm finish after four minutes followed by a Sean Doyle volley two minutes after.

Both players then added second goals during the first period with Pinnington making it three with 18 minutes gone and Doyle getting his brace from close range on the half-hour mark to lead 4-0 at half-time.

Meanwhile Peel - who did have chances of their own during the contest - shored up defensively in the second half but couldn't prevent Joe Walters scoring with four minutes remaining to complete the scoreline.

The result means FC Isle of Man finish their pre-season campaign with two wins from the four fixtures.

Defeats to National League North side's Brackley Town and Southport were followed up with a commanding 9-1 win over Manx outfit, Corinthians in the three previous fixtures before last night.

The Ravens begin their 2023/24 league campaign in the NWCFL Premier Division this coming Saturday (29 July) where they'll face Wythenshawe Town at The Bowl, kicking-off at 6pm.

Manx Radio will be providing full live match commentary on our DAB and AM1368 channels.
