Football: New women and girls community champion appointed

It's part of objectives to provide equal access for females in the sport

The Isle of Man Football Association has confirmed a new appointment aimed at improving opportunities in the sport for women and girls.

Jamylea Ferns takes up the post of Women & Girls Community Champion at the organisation and will work alongside IOMFA Women & Girls Football Development Officer, Simon Elson.

Among Jamylea's objectives will be identifying, recruiting and supporting female volunteers at the beginning of their coaching journey.

Speaking about her new role, she says she feels 'really privileged' to be offered the position, adding she's 'excited' to help 'promote and develop' the female game on Island.

It's also part of one of the IOMFA's 'game-changer' objectives from the 2020-24 Grassroots Football Strategy which looks to provide equal access to football for women and girls.
