Hockey: Bacchas A hit seven past Castletown Celts

Win for defending prem champions keeps them in title hunt

Bacchas A kept their Mixed Premier League title defence alive last night (1 November) with a clinical 7-1 victory over Castletown Celts at the NSC in Douglas.

A hat-trick for Andy Whiting, two strikes from Luca Parlato and goals from Jamie Brown and Tom Lothian saw Bacchas take maximum points against the southern side.

Hannah Leece was on hand to provide the only goal and consolation for Castletown Celts who, until Wednesday evening, had not lost since the opening day of the season on 9 September.

Victory means Bacchas move to within one point of both Vikings A at the top of the table and Valkyrs A at the top of the premier league standings after Vikings secured victory over Valkyrs on Tuesday (31 October).

Castletown Celts, meanwhile, remain fourth in the table on nine points, four points clear of Bacchas B in fifth.
