Shetland and Jersey also make winning starts

The Isle of Man got their first Island Invitational Netball Games campaign off to a winning start with a 58-27 victory over Guernsey last night (7 November).

The Manx team are the hosts for the inaugural edition of this event which is seeing six Island nations face off in a series of matches at the NSC in Douglas until Saturday (11 November).

Following success in their first outing, Isle of Man coach, Claire Battye, says it was good to get their campaign off to a positive start:

Elsewhere, the first match of the event saw Shetland secure a 60-49 victory over Ynys Mon on Tuesday morning.

Shetland coach, Vicki Smith, commented her squad has been looking forward to this experience before arriving on Manx shores:

Also getting off to the best possible start yesterday was Jersey who defeated a spirited Orkney side 64-29 with a clinical display.

Serena Kersten - Jersey head coach - stated it took time to learn about their opponents and adapt to them on court

Today (8 November), Jersey and Shetland face off in day two's opening match which started at 10am this morning.

That will be followed at 2pm with Guernsey facing Orkney with both sides hoping to bounce back from respective defeats on day one.

Wednesday's schedule will then be rounded off with the Isle of Man taking on Ynys Mon at 6pm.
