Orkney also get first victory on the board

Isle of Man and Jersey made it back-to-back wins during Wednesday on day two of the Island Invitational Netball Games at the NSC in Douglas.

It means both occupy the top two spots on the leaderboard going into today (9 November) with the Isle of Man narrowly ahead on goal difference.

Yesterday saw Jersey first up against Shetland - who'd won their opening contest on Tuesday - with Jersey coming out on top 55-31.

Jersey's Rosie Tonner says they were made to work for victory:

Next up saw Orkney and Guernsey face off with both sides hoping to bounce back from defeats during Tuesday's opening fixtures.

It was Orkney who would go on to record their first win of the tournament overcoming Guersney, also with a 55-31 scoreline.

Zara Flett, Orkney vice-captain, believes it was a good result despite a slow start:

Elsewhere, the Isle of Man made it back-to-back wins of their own with a commanding 63-34 victory over Ynys Mon.

IoM squad member, Rachel Johnstone commented whilst the 'Rams' had pulled out a lead come the end of the match, their opponents pushed them all the way:

Today's opening contest sees Orkney face Ynys Mon at 10am before a battle of the Channel Islands at 2pm between Guernsey and Jersey.

Thursday's final match of the day sees the Isle of Man face Shetland.
