Joe Yeardsley takes second at Cain Road Race

Fellow Manx rider Jim Hunter also competes well out in Mexico

Manx motorcycle competitor Joe Yeardsley secured a top-three finish during his debut at a grueling road race in Mexico at the weekend.

On board his Kawasaki 636, Yeardsley went on to take second spot both in his machine class and overall during the 74km Cain Road Race on Sunday (19 November).

He completed the course - which has over 530 corners - in a time of 38 minutes 32.193 seconds, only 20.4 seconds behind overall winner Gonzalo Castro from Mexico.

Yeardsley's fellow MGP competitor - Italian rider Maurizio Bottalico - also rode well to finish third overall and win the 1000cc category.

Another Isle of Man contender was also involved in the form of Jim Hunter who managed the 32nd fastest time overall on his BMW XR1000 in 43 minutes 14.059 seconds which was also the 16th fastest pace in the 1000cc class.
