Champions win at Port-e-Chee

Stockport celebrated their league title with a 53-0 win at Port-e-Chee, running in nine tries against a depleted Douglas who continue to be plagued with injuries within the squad. A win for close rivals Bowdon saw Douglas drop to thirteenth position in the standings. Douglas face a tough trip to fourth place Kendal  next Saturday ahead of a welcome free week at Easter.

Ramsey beat a spirited Vagabonds

Ramsey came out 62-24 winners in an entertaining Ravenscroft Manx Cup tie at the Mooragh Park in a game where the score line doesn’t really reflect the game. Ramsey led 22-14 at half time and with an hour gone Vagas trailed 34-24, before the floodgates opened in the final twenty minutes.

Luca Simmons’ interception try gave Vagas an early lead but Ramsey hit back through Jared May, Danny Howard, Brandon Atchison and Dan Richmond. Connor Coulthard’s try for Vagas on the stroke of half time, coupled with Luca Simmons’ second conversion put Vagas within eight at the break.

Simmons reduced the gap further with a penalty early in the second half before Danny Howard and Brandon Atchison both bagged their second tries in the match but when Ramsey lost Dan Bonwick to the sin bin Luke Purdy muscled his way over for Vagas and with Simmons’ conversion the lead was down to ten points after an hour. Late in the game though tries from Rory Nicholson, Jake Richmond, Dan Richmond and Fintan Cummins saw Ramsey run way with it. Dan Richmond added five conversions to give him a twenty point game.
