Pool: IPA Grand Finals on Island this weekend

Nearly 200 players descending on Palace Hotel for four-day festival

The Isle of Man is playing host to a major event on the International Professional Pool Association (IPA) over the next few days.

The IPA Grand Finals are set to be held at the Palace Hotel in Douglas from tomorrow until Sunday (17-19 November).

Nearly 30 local competitors are set to be involved across the whole event, headed up by Manx professional player David Addinall - overall 152 players will be part of the men's event and 30 in the ladies.

In the tournament's fifth year on Island, IPA Chairman, Kevin Barton, explains what makes it so popular:

Yesterday and today (15-16 November) amateur players from both on and off-Island are getting the chance to play against pro competitors in a series of different festival events ahead of the main finals beginning on Friday.

For the finals there are six categories to be contested - Open, Professional and Amateur as well as the Ladies Elite, Ladies Open and Ladies Amateur.

The event will be livestreamed on the IPA Pool YouTube channel.
