Ramsey miss out at Mossley Hill

Nomads overrun by Vikings

Ramsey’s promotion push suffered a blow in their first game in the new South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Three league, losing out 20-12 away at Mossley Hill.

Ethan Benjamin and Dan Bonwick crossed for Ramsey’s tries with Bonwick converting one.

Ramsey were just one point away from claiming a losing bonus point but can take some consolation that Mossley Hill were restricted to just three tries, meaning they too failed to collect a bonus point which may prove useful as the league progresses.

Western Vikings returned to third place in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield in an entertaining 24-21 win away at Emerging Nomads.

Nomads led 14-0 at half-time after tries from Andy Lean and Harry Catlow, both converted by Joey Corkish.

Alex Gibson and Chris Horton both crossed for Vikings in the second half with Ryan Burke converting both to level the scores.

Burke then added a penalty to put Vikings ahead and when Mark Venables sneaked in for a try with 10 minutes to go, Burke’s conversion gave them a 10 point advantage.

Nomads hammered away in the closing stages and Catlow’s second try of the game, plus Corkish’s conversion, got them to within three before they were beaten by the clock.
