SHOOTING: 15 competitors face harsh conditions in final round of WSE League

Simpson scores only straight of the day

The forth and final round of the Utopia Hair salon Winter Series English league was held at Meary Veg Santon with 15 competitors taking part in cold, blustery and hazy conditions.

The joint leaders after the first round were Paul Mihailovits and John Moore on 24 points with C class shooters Mark Hepworth and junior Zac Bellhouse in joint third place on 23 followed by Dave Corlett and Rob Marshall on 22.

The second round got underway with the conditions getting even more windy making the targets duck and dive, however this didn’t seem to bother James Simpson.

He recorded the only straight on the day to finish in joint first place overall and first in A class with Paul Mihailovits on 46 points; third place in A class went to John Moore on 44.

Junior Zac Bellhouse was third overall with 45 points which also took C class, and there was a three-way tie for second place in C class between Mark Hepworth, Rob Marshall and Rob Corlett on 39 points.

Mike Walker was first in B class with 40 points with Steven Rand second on 30 points.

The overall league positions have yet to be decided as we have ties in A and C class’s which will be decided next week.
