28-year-old takes victory in three sets at Sofia Open

Manx professional tennis player Billy Harris has secured his first ever win on the prestigious ATP Tour.

The 28-year-old beat Switzerland's Marc-Andrea Huesler in three sets (6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5)) during the Sofia Open in Bulgaria yesterday (7 November).

Harris - who grew up on Island and is originally from Nottingham - told BBC Sport to gain his first main-draw victory was 'so special', adding in the last two years he's started to find 'a bit of form and made steady progress.'

Today, Harris will face Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff in the second round.

Separately this month, Harris is featuring in a new LTA Documentary series called 'Beyond the Baseline', in which Harris and several other UK players describe the journey and challenges of becoming a pro player in the sport.

Episodes are being aired weekly on the LTA YouTube channel.

He will also travel later this month with the Great Britain squad to the Davis Cup in Malaga - Harris will be a hitting partner for the team.
