Manx blocks to undergo fire checks

The home affairs minister has moved to ease concerns Islanders may have about unsafe high-rises in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire.

At least 79 people are reported to have lost their lives in the disaster when the block was engulfed on June 14.

It's since emerged 75 similar buildings in 26 areas of England have failed safety tests on their cladding.Bill Malarkey says extra checks, on certain buildings of five storeys or more, will now be carried out here to reassure residents.
