Recess allows MHKs time for constituency work

Tynwald's summer recess can help its members escape their own 'echo chamber' and do more constituency work.

That's according to the Court's president Steve Rodan.

He says members can't act effectively as public representatives if they don't interact with the local community.

The recess starts after the last sitting of Tynwald at the end of July, and finishes in October when the Court reconvenes.

Mr Rodan told Manx Radio the break can help prepare members for the year ahead.
