Strix reaches extraordinary landmark

Isle of Man-based manufacturer Strix has been celebrating after its one billionth kettle control unit rolled off the production line.
The company held a dinner at The Nunnery in Douglas to mark the occasion, with guests including Lieutenant Governor Sir Paul Haddacks and Lady Haddacks, Chief Minister Tony Brown and Education Minister Anne Craine.
Strix CEO Paul Hussey told the audience how Strix started life in 1951 as Castletown Thermostats, before its name change in 1982.
The firm employs 750 people worldwide and is the world’s largest manufacturer of kettle control units.
