Just before Christmas, the Sovereign Art Foundation presented the Isle of Man’s First Student Art Awards. The initiative originated in Hong Kong and aims to celebrate the work of local artists while raising funds for the Sovereign Group’s philanthropic projects in Asia. With thousands of pounds in prizes for finalists and their schools, and promotion of the students’ artwork around the world, could this be a new formula for boosting the arts economy on the Island? We asked Chief Minister Howard Quayle his thoughts.
