IT'S CHRIIIIISTMAAAAAAS!

Nollick Ghennal - Merry Christmas to you and welcome to the Spotlight Christmas Special with some of your favourite moments from Spotlight this year.

As ever, if you have anything art-related to tell me about, do drop me a line at Spotlight@manxradio.com and if you miss anything today, head to manxradio.com to listen again on demand where you’ll also find the spotlight blog, full of links to places you can find out more about everyone featured on today’s show.

We begin with an interview from Spotlight number four, way back in April when artist Jimmy Duggan was preparing for his solo exhibition at the Isle Gallery in Tynwald Mills.

Skip ahead a couple of months and we find ourselves at Cyclefest with fabulously talented country singer-songwriter Katy Hurt, who talks about the craft of songwriting and breaking into the UK Country music scene as a young performer. We also hear her song Tell it Like it is which is available on Spotify and iTunes.

Painter Adam Kinrade is next! I visited him at his studio in the spring where he talked us through his themes, influences and techniques.

Watercolour artist Julie Collins exhibited in St Johns earlier this year - Julie gave us a tour of her show at the Isle Gallery and shared with us her greatest inspirations.

We step back to the 7th North Atlantic Native Sheep and Wool Conference next, where I had a rather inspiring conversation with Mr Oliver Henry, a wool sorter (among many other things) from Shetland.

And now for something completely different, Janet Lees joined me on the programme just a few months ago to tell me about two of the great loves in her life.

And we close today’s programme with film critic, Mr Mark Kermode himself, patron of the Isle of Man Film Festival who had only good things to say about Filmfest when I caught up with him back in September!

Do keep the feedback coming! Email us at Spotlight@manxradio.com to let us know your own highlights from the year!

Spotlight is taking a festive break this week but I’ll be back in our regular spot on Wednesday January the 3rd. I hope you have a very merry christmas, Nollick Ghennal eirru!
