P17

On the show this week, Roger Watterson speaks to esteemed Artist Michael Sandle about the Sovereign Arts Foundation’s Student’s Prize and Nicola Dixon shares the stories behind the decorative screens she designed for the Peel Regeneration Project.

As ever, do get in touch with us through Spotlight@manxradio.com and don’t forget you can find the Spotlight Blog at manxradio.com with handy links and information from this week’s programme!

First, Roger Watterson has a fascinating conversation with Professor Michael Sandle, a man widely recognised as one of the greatest sculptors in the world. If his name is not familiar, his work certainly will be, he is the man who created the Monument to Sir William Hillary on Douglas Promenade. As patron of the Sayle Gallery, Professor Sandle returned to the Island to judge The Sovereign Arts Foundation’s Student Prize.

Jane Hall of the Manx Art Directory joins us with this week’s Visual Arts News.

And we take a visit to Peel, to hear the stories behind the new decorative panels which have been installed on market square, designed by Peel-based maritime artist, Nicola Dixon who you can follow on Facebook.
