Road to Recovery

This week we are joined by writers Janet Lees and Christina Thatcher this weekend are running a series of events addressing certain taboo subjects, and we congratulate Harpist Mera Royle on her BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards victory!

If you’d like to come on the show and share something creative with us, drop me a line at Spotlight@manxradio.com and don’t forget you can listen again to the show as a podcast and on demand on our website where you’ll also find the Spotlight blog full of links and further information about the guests and events featured this week.

Our guests today are writers Janet Lees and Christina Thatcher, two poets separated by the sea but who are coming together to host a series of events addressing certain subjects we may normally find difficult to discuss. The subject matter may be heavy but Christina and Janet assured me it won’t all be doom and gloom. Find out more about the workshops and events through the Road to Recovery  and Into the Darkness Facebook pages and reserve your spot by calling Janet on 470941 or emailing her at jpx10@mac.com

And we offer our warmest congratulations half Manx trad group Imar who won The Horizon Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and to local harpist Mera Royle, winner of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Musician of the Year award! We hear a lovely piece which Mera performed live for Women Today a few weeks ago.

And that’s all we have time for this week! Don’t forget you can listen to the programme again on the Manx Radio website. Join us again next Wednesday at 5:50pm.
