#MRWomenToday: hearing dogs, lipreading, and Prince Philip (Royal)waves goodbye

On the programme today: -

- we looked at the new consultation that could leave local women who are pregnant or have given birth in the past 12 months facing an end to free prescriptions and asked what do you think? Is it fair or should they still be excluded?

- also today we heard from the finalists in the bidding to win the Miss Isle of Man Community Challenge which takes place this weekend; the contestants have raised over £100,000 pounds for local charities already, and the winner of the title for 2017 will be revealed at a black tie event at the Villa Marina on Saturday. All the tables are fully sold but you can still buy seated tickets from the Villa Gaiety Box Office. Visit the main website for further information.

- as the Duke of Edinburgh retires from Royal duties at the age of 96, we loked back at his some times very 'colourful' career;

hearingdogs- and we were joined in the studio by Lucy Buxton, the Communication and Support Manager for the Manx Deaf Society, and Dot Piper from Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, along with her own beautiful hearing dog Puddles. Lucy starts new lipreading classes in September - you can sign up by emailing iomdeafsociety@gmail.com or call or text Lucy direct on 202875. You can find out about applying for a hearing dog on the main website; and you can TEXT Dot on her mobile to ask about her talks on hearing dogs using 480143 (please do TEXT not call).

If you missed the show, you can listen again at the this link for the next 7 days. We also took some video of Lucy explaining lipreading and Dot showing how she works with Puddles, which we will be posting later this evening on our Facebook so keep checking back!

Tomorrow we'll be telling you how you can make the most of your unwanted handbags while also helping a very good cause. Tune in from 2pm!
