#MRWomenToday: helpful handbags, Sulby fair, sharenting and the ethics of pets

On the programme today: -

- "Sharenting" (sharing pictures of our kids online) - is it really ok or an invasion of their privacy? 10 year old Ben and 7 year old Max 'shared' their thoughts on the subject;

- also today, we spoke to Kirstie Martin about the 71st Sulby Horticultural show which takes place this weekend. There are lots of craft, photography and baking classes for adults and children to enter with rosettes and prize monies to be won, but entries need to be in by 9pm TONIGHT! Rather than having an auction at the end of the afternoon, any edible entries left at the end of the show will be collected and donated to the IOM FoodBank. If you want to just come along to the show,  a fantastic raffle with a star prize from IOM Steam Packet, a Bumble bee treasure hunt, homemade cakes doors open 1.30pm. For further info on this fun and friendly event, email sulbyshow@gmail.com, call Kirstie on 818147 or find out more on their Facebook page

- as new research has cast doubt on the ethics of keeping pets, we asked, is it wrong to keep animals as members of our family? you were very vocal on this one, and Karl from Arg Beiyn gave us a vet's insight into the complex and emotive topic;

KeryWadd2- and our studio guest today was the lovely Kerry Waddington, who came in to talk to us about the Conister Bank ‘Great Handbag Sale’ for Manx Cancer Help. She shared her own story about being diagnosed with cancer and how it affected her and her family's life, and told us how she has made it her mission to bag as much money as possible for the charity - with the event that she is once again for the fourth year she is organising through her employer Conister Bank. Tickets for the designer handbag raffle are £5 each and can be purchased by online by clicking here; by sending a Private Message to the Facebook page; or by visiting Kerry at The Royal Agricultural Show 11th & 12th August where the handbags will be on show at the Conister Bank igloo. The raffle will be drawn on Wednesday 16th August and 10 lucky people will be invited to Conister's offices to choose their handbag.
